Zuhura Solutions joins the MLC as a Vanguard, Voyager, or PSS member — a recognition that reflects the company’s measurable progress in transforming livelihoods across Kenya’s urban informal economy.
Putting Clean Energy in the Hands of Those Who Need It Most
At the heart of Zuhura Solutions’ work is the Halisi Trolley, an IoT-integrated, solar-battery bioethanol-powered food vending cart purpose-built for East Africa’s urban micro-entrepreneurs. Street food vendors, the majority of them women and youth, operate in conditions that demand resilience: long hours, unreliable energy sources, thin margins, and no formal financial footprint to speak of. The Halisi Trolley changes that equation.
Deployed through a Pay-As-You-Own (PAYO) financing model, the trolley gives vendors access to clean energy productive assets without the barrier of upfront capital. Each transaction made through the trolley’s integrated mobile payment system contributes to building the vendor’s financial identity, a digital credit trail that can unlock further financial services and opportunity. What begins as a food cart becomes a gateway to economic inclusion.
